2. Here’s what I found about the movie Hollywood Goes Hard:

   Adult film historian Charles Devlin wrote:
   “So, there are two versions of this film currently circulating, neither of which is complete: one from VCA (the “raciest”) and one from Alpha Blue Archives. For a complete version a long sequence from the ABA disc would need to be inserted back into the VCA version. This cut sequence features a MFFF quartet consisting of Lisa Marks, Roseanne Farrow, Brenda Filbrick (in blonde wig) and the Tarzanesque Larry Cox rutting and strutting, suspended and entwined in a large rigging-style net. Conversely, (but hardly surprising) cut from ABA’s print are all the loops featuring transsexual and bisexual (male) acts. I can imagine that the film was cut down to shorten the running time in some territories and the non-hetero stuff removed for conservative communities.
   The opening titles are somewhat puzzling. The actual on-screen title is HOLLYWOOD GOES HARD (in yellow uppercase letters), with a wobbling subtitle of “Starring FRENCH KITTENS”. Rubbish. There are no “French kittens” in this film; the very first person we see is a bearded Zachary Strong/Youngblood plus pipe before he gets stuck into a MMF menage-a trois from one of Jerry Abram’s S.F. filmed Starlight loops. Yes, bedspread watchers: the quilt is back*. Whilst the loop unfolds we are regaled with a huge cast list mixed with fake noms-de-porn and A-list NY talent.
   This occasionally amusing film has a scenery chewing Roger Caine playing producer Milton J. Herzberger who convinces famous Italian director Renaldo Ruttolicci [geddit?] (Zebedy Colt in a non sex role) to make a super sex epic which will net them millions. Secretary Miss Smith (Roseanne Farrow) isn’t convinced telling the audience at regular intervals that it will “just be another fuck film”. She’s right of course.
   As the film rolls along, double-act Colt and Caine toss around ideas as to what type of action should be in their epic: cue a selection of loops to demonstrate. The loops are quite interesting: I noted 3 other Abrams loops, two of which contain early undocumented appearances by Sharon Thorpe — in one of which she’s joined by the remarkable but unsung Linda Loveall. Zachary Strong later related “Linda Loveall left the industry after that [pregnancy] but emerged a few years later as a prominent Democratic politician in the San Francisco area.”

   We are also treated to unused footage from the Jean Jennings/Ashley Moore scene from SHARON (1976) and unused footage from the Jean Jennings/Zebedy Colt/Herschel Savage scene — also from SHARON (1976).
   There is another loop with Gloria Leonard, Eric Edwards and two brunettes playing poker but I was unable to identify that.
   The whole film is very sex-film meta — a clapperboard is shown with the letters MOS on it and the final scene is a riff on the famous stage performance from BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR, but with Roger Caine trussed up and suspended instead of Marilyn Chambers. I thought the funniest moment was when Colt voices over on one of the loops “Someone who looked a good deal like me as a teenager approaches big sister.” He wasn’t wrong!
   Music is credited to “The Magi” but of course it’s all library tunes except a couple of Focus numbers used very well: “Soft Vanilla” and “My Sweetheart” from their 1975 Mother Focus LP. Over one of the Jerry Abrams loops can be heard a memorable Farfisa organ driven cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”. Anyone heard this before?
   Posters claim TERRI HALL and SUSAN McBAIN are in this but they are nowhere to be seen in either version.
   Scenes 16 and 18 scenes were originally Bizarre Films loops realeased in two parts – Both Ways, parts 1 and 2.

   Gloria Leonard loop is Flaming Films 506 – Poker Party.
