this is fascinating! it’s a bit earlier than the first batch of swedish erotica subtitled loops, but a product of the same creative principles. the letter font for the subtitles places it as among the very earliest subtitled loops, a thicker, blockier font…and generally the subs early on are a bit more descriptive and approximate of actual sentences. i’d surmise they were written, as were most of not all of the subtitles across related series, by the cult director ed wood.
the lamp here is the giveaway for me in terms of timing…summer/fall of 1971. you will see the lamp on many dirty movies loops from that era, but those loops were unsubbed. the interiors are shot at hal guthu’s studio on santa monica blvd, and although i don’t know what series this belongs to, it runs concurrent to the earliest subbed series, like pussycat and danish international films. two-parters were sporadic but common, and i’m keeping my fingers crossed that part 2 turns up!
